Lesson 6
SHARING YOUR FAITH
Objective: To present different ways that a believer may share the gospel.
Key Scriptures: Matt 28:18 18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power (authority) is given unto me in heaven and in earth. 19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
Mark 16:15-18 15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. 17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; 18.They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. KJV
2 Cor 5:19-6:1 9 that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men's sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. 20 We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ's behalf: Be reconciled to God. 21 God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
A. Why Share This Message?
We are ambassadors (representatives) of Christ on earth. This means that we to share our faith with whoever may cross our path in life and let them know that God loves them and wants them to be brought back into favor with Him. The heart of God is to have every person on earth accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.
1 Tim 2:3-4 3 This is good, and pleases God our Savior, 4 who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.
Everyone will not share the message the same way, there are different styles tom sharing our faith.
Among Christians sharing your faith is usually referred to as evangelism.
Evangelism means to proclaim the gospel.

B. Ways Of Sharing The Gospel:
1. Confrontational Evangelism – The in your face way of sharing the gospel (example: –street preaching) Acts 2
2. Intellectual Evangelism – Sharing the gospel with someone who is very educated or analytical. (example: a college professor) Acts 17:20-21 (All the Athenians and the foreigners who lived there spent their time doing nothing but talking about and listening to the latest ideas.)
3. Relational Evangelism - Sharing the gospel with family and friends.
19 Jesus did not let him, but said, "Go home to your family and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you." 20 So the man went away and began to tell in the Decapolis how much Jesus had done for him. And all the people were amazed. Mark 5:19-20
4. Service Evangelism – Sharing the gospel serving others. Examples: cutting someone’s grass, cleaning someone’s house, fixing a meal or braking a cake for someone. Acts 9:36-39
36 In Joppa there was a disciple named Tabitha (which, when translated, is Dorcas), who was always doing good and helping the poor. 37 About that time she became sick and died, and her body was washed and placed in an upstairs room. 38 Lydda was near Joppa; so when the disciples heard that Peter was in Lydda, they sent two men to him and urged him, "Please come at once!"
39 Peter went with them, and when he arrived he was taken upstairs to the room. All the widows stood around him, crying and showing him the robes and other clothing that Dorcas had made while she was still with them.
5. Invitational Evangelism – Inviting someone to church so that they could hear the clear presentation of the gospel. John 4:28-31
28 Then, leaving her water jar, the woman went back to the town and said to the people, 29 "Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did. Could this be the Christ?" 30 They came out of the town and made their way toward him.
These five ways are not the only ways of sharing the gospel, but they should get you to thinking about possible ways that God wants to use you to tell and show others the gospel.
It’s an exciting life go forth and share!!! |
